92-3 Notations/Relations (Visual Poem), 1974 This work combining the poetry of the contemporary poet, Octavio Paz and my pictures was published by the Visual Arts Center of Harvard University and sold at the Modern Museum of Art in New York. There are three visual poems each of which can be rotated to make the poem gradually appear and to transform the design. Generally, in works combining poems and pictures, the poems take precedence and the pictures are executed with the poems in mind. Suchpictures are weakened by their illustrative character, and I find them unsatisfactory. I wanted to reverse this process and therefore handed Octavio my designs before he had written his poems. He told me later that it was nevertheless an enjoyable experience. When I consider that Octavio wrote the poems for my design, I feel very fortunate. Thank you, Octavio.
							‚これは現代詩人、オクタヴィオ・パズの詩と、私の造形による詩画集で、ハーバード大学視覚芸術センター(カーペンターセンター）が出版し、NY近代美術館で販売されたのもです。三つの詩と造形から成り､何れも造形を回転させる事により詩が現れ､形が変化します｡ ・詩画集といえば、詩が先行し、その詩に従って絵が考えられる為に、絵は、どこかイラストレーション化した感じがして私には不満があった。私はこの詩画集において、そのプロセスを逆にしたいと考え、オクタヴィオの詩が完成する以前に、私の造形を彼に手渡したために、彼は非常に詩に苦労したが、楽しい経験を持ったと話してくれた。 ノーベル賞受賞詩人、オクタヴィオが私の造形に、詩を捧げてくれたと思うと、私はなんと果報者だろうか。 オクタヴィオ、ありがとう。
